The Team
We serve as a ministry partner to the local church. The Sermon Network has been in operation since 2005, and during that time has helped publish thousands of hours of sermon content on the web. The Sermon Studio media delivery system and the website http://sermon.net were established to help our partner ministries share the Word of God worldwide.
The Founders are Joshua Stokes and Dave Johnston. Dave and Joshua have been in the media industry for many years and in 2005 decided to take their vision and abilities and use them for God’s glory. They began working with a few pastors to help design what is now the Sermon Player. From the inception of this vision until now, thousands of churches have joined in our campaign to share God’s word online.
David Johnston
Co-Founder and CTO
Dave’s duties include vacuuming the floor and emptying the trash cans, amongst other things. He is also the hands-on guy regarding the maintenance and evolution of the Sermon Player system. After a round of conversations with Joshua and the rest of the team, Dave sets the ball in motion by documenting and prioritizing the projects. He then works with (harasses) the programmers until the updates are completed, tested, and released. His good nature makes him particularly well equipped for the job (programmers are weird people).
Joshua Stokes
Co-Founder and CEO
Joshua spends most of his time coaching youth sports. He doesn’t quite remember how it all started yet somewhere along the way both his son and daughter found the love for competition and it has been practices, games, and everyting in between ever since. So if you need to get ahold of Joshua after hours don’t say we didn’t warn you.
When not on the sidelines Joshua is managing the busniness development of the Sermon Network. Joshua oversees partner relations, marketing, and works closely with product planning.
Larry Brown
Director of Client Management
With the success of the Share Beyond Sunday campaign Larry hasn’t had much time away from work! All Sermon Player users know that their first “hello” comes from Larry. Larry joined our staff in November 2006 and oversees all client management and organizational relations. Larry has an extensive background in sales and technology and has served in various ministry capacities over the past 10 years. Larry is the father of 3 girls Samantha, Maggie, and Sarah and one boy Logan. He and his wife Gena have been married for 13 years. Some of Larry?s likes include fishing, watching sports, coaching his children and of course his computer.
Scott Smith
Director of Client Services
At some point in time everyone talks to Scott. If you haven’t yet, you should. His knowledge of the Sermon Player system and how to best guide you along your way makes him the man for the job! Scott is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and returned home after graduating from The University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Finance. He lives just outside Tulsa in the nationally known football town of Jenks with his lovely wife Katherine, dog Blizzard, and cat Madeline. He enjoys playing frisbee and rollerblading with Blizzard, watching Big 12 sports and the Dallas Mavericks, and playing with computers and video games.
Kirill Belov
Lead Developer
Born in Russia, Kirill received his degree in Applied Mathematics at Rostov State University.
Without Kirill there would be no Sermon Player system. Kirill is the software technician that makes it happen. Along with the rest of the development team, Kirill takes the often “overwhelming” list from Dave and builds it out. No small task! And, all the while he does it with a smile… (yeah right, adds Dave).
Kirill loves the mountains, skiing, travelling, and large bodies of water (nothing beats a warm day at the Lake). He often likes to swim as an opportunity to forget that computers even exist. : )
Mariann McKinney
Office Administrator
Mariann has the awesome responsibility of keeping everything at Sermon Player straight and orderly. Although she would say that is impossible, she does an amazing job! Mariann received her degree in Accounting from Northeastern State University of Oklahoma as a Magna Cum Laude graduate. Her accounting background includes: fifteen years of oil and gas, three years of manufacturing, five years of partnership, trust and estate. She is an avid golfer and fishing enthusiast as well as a league bowler.
